Finally, My Home Gets Some Curb Appeal

Posted on October 4, 2010. Filed under: decorating |

We have been working on our house since the day we bought it 8 years ago. Most oft he work has taken place inside. We painted, finished the basement, and added an extension to our kitchen and master bathroom. We re-built our deck after the extnesion, er-built our front steps and completed a blue stone path from the side yard to the deck. And now…finally we are doing something with or very large, very neglected front yard.

This is the wall of the house you see as you approach the front door. It's very imposing and cold now that the ugly evergreens are gone.

Neglected planting bed at front of driveway

This planting bed is at the front of the driveway. The first thing you see. It's very neglected and we have big (but simple) plans to make this more welcoming.

We hired the professionals at Sun Nurseries to do a landscape design. The person we worked with (Donna Lee) has been wonderful. I was afraid we would get a plan that was too expensive, too high maitenance, too….just wrong. Donna Lee’s plan is perfect. It is practical, low-maintenance, complements the house and the setting and we can afford it!

We are saving some money on removing some old plants and ground cover and we are counting down the days until October 12th when they come install all of the new plants.

I can’t wait to show you the after pictures. I will also show you the front door area comparing this fall with last fall. It’s nice to finally get the outside of the house to match the inside.

Do you struggle with matching your curb appeal to your interior decorating?
